Purple People

Our community service program, Purple People, is targeted for adolescents and teenagers for short and long-term volunteerism. Purple People is a commitment to fulfill your community service requirement for school or a club, build your resume, and make a difference in your community.  Our benefit events are generally smaller-staffed and require many volunteers; thus, this is a short-term community service which is ideal for teens who are unable make a longer commitment. Each year, our Purple People return to our annual events to continue their education on chronic pain diseases and responsibilities for volunteerism. The Purple People Leaders has been running this program for 8 years and has experience in community service requirements.

What you can expect:

Our annual fibromyalgia awareness events cater to approximately 300 people with approximately 20 Purple People volunteers. They are expected to assist with setup & tear down of tents, tables & signs, general information to the public, assisting staff & vendors and assisting with the children’s gaming booth. You receive a Purple People t-shirt with your name on the front and are given a level of responsibility from the Leaders based on your experience.

Would you like to volunteer?

If you would like to be a Purple Person for our 2017 event in May, please sign up today! The Purple People President, Heather Gresham, will contact you for details on your t-shirt and answer any questions you may have or can also email Kentuckiana Fibromyalgia Support Group at fibromeetup@mail.com
